HEALTH MAILING LISTS

Mailing lists, or listservs, distribute messages to everyone who has subscribed to the list. Some listservs are "read only," meaning that they distribute news and publications, but do not permit subscribers to submit messages to one another. Discussion groups, the more common type of mailing list, allow subscribers to both receive and submit information on a particular topic. If you subscribe to a discussion group, you can send a message to a central computer which then sends your message to all other subscribers of the list. There are a huge number of mailing lists on the Internet, but this guide lists only select democracy and governance-related listservs. They are all free and open to the public; all you have to do is subscribe.

Instructions

1. To subscribe to listserv and listproc lists: send e-mail to the subscription address listed below (leave the subject line blank) with the following message:

  • SUBSCRIBE <LISTNAME> <Your Name>
